[Isu] Sushi Lolo (스시로로)

Sushi Lolo (스시로로) is a casual sushi place located near Isu station exit number 9.

This place is quite popular among locals and there usually is a long line if you go after 6:00pm.

Sushi Lolo serves sushi and sashimi dishes (of course) as well as various side dishes such as different types of fish soup, grilled fish, and rice dishes.

Complimentary steamed egg.

Since we're having a sushi, why not order a bottle of sake?

House sake was pretty bland but it's inexpensive.

Once you order, the servers will bring out lettuce salad, rakkyo (pickled Chinese onion), and soy sauce. They also have pickled ginger in case you are wondering.

We ordered two servings of "Teuk" sushi.
(teuk means special but they already have special sushi on the menu. so I guess in this case teuk is even more special?)

Since the rice and fish can get dry, Sushi Lolo will divide your meal into separate courses.

1st course includes tuna belly, halibut, and salmon.

 Salmon's always good.

 Tuna belly...
Not really fatty as it should be, and how they prepped the tuna isn't up to par when compared to other ingredients.

I felt vinegar in rice was bit too strong for white flesh fish such as halibut.
It was overpowering the fish.

Second course included shrimp, salmon belly, halibut fin, soy sauce marinated shrimp, snapper, and beef sirloin.

Beef sirloin is an odd sushi but it's actually quite popular in these casual sushi places.
It's not bad, but to me they are just out of place.

Shrimp is a shrimp, nothing out of the ordinary here.

Soy sauce marinated shrimp is on the salty side.

Halibut fin has been prepped excellently and was probably the best of the night.
Absolutely delicious.

 Snapper is always good.

And you have to try very very hard to make salmon belly taste bad.

Overall, Sushi Lolo serves good quality sushi at decent price.
All the ingredients have been prepped nicely (except tuna) and taste and portions were good as well.

If you are looking for decent sushi place that doesn't require big money, Sushi Lolo is definitely worth considering.
