[Daelim] Hwaloong Maralongsha (화룽 마라롱샤)

Longsha is a Chinese spicy crayfish dish.

Hwaloong Maralongsha (화룽 마라롱샤) located near Daelim station is a restaurant that specializes in spicy dishes, and all of the choices that they offer packs quite a punch.

The workers here speaks Chinese and Korean so I'm not sure how difficult it will be to order in English, but their menu does have illustration of what you may be ordering.

Their specialty is a Longsha, the spicy crayfish, and also popular are the spicy catfish dishes.

They also offer wide varieties of other spicy dishes such as spicy clams, spicy ribs, and spicy shrimps.

Their spicy chicken wings are quite good as well.

Being Chinese restaurant, they really do have many different dishes on their menu.

They also have skewers but I didn't really see anyone having skewers that night.

They also have fried rice and noodle dishes.

This was a complimentary dish that night.
Qingchaodofugan
Basically a dried tofu cut up like a noodle and then stir-fried.

And the main dish of the evening (30,000KRW).

 Hello Sebastian?

And lesson on how to eat Longsha.
First, you take off the head.
Unfortunately, you can't eat the head.

Then crack the shell with your both hands.

Once you crack the shell, you should be able to get to the flesh easily.

The dish really is spicy.
It's not peppery, painful spicy, but tongue numbing spicy with really nice spicy aroma.
Perfect companion to shot of soju.

 And the aftermath.

My honest assessment?
While its good, it's really hassle to eat since you do have to crack the shell to get to the parts you can eat.
And since most you do throw away the shell, there really isn't much to eat.

 Spicy chicken wings (20,000KRW)

 These were excellent.
The wings soaked up all the spicy goodness, and as you eat more, you start to sweat from the crown of your head because of the heat.

The beansprouts and onions were good as well.

 Fried rice (6,000KRW)
Nicely seasoned and fried. Each morsels of rice were nice and flaky.

It was also great with the chicken wing sauce.

Overall, if you are a lover of a spicy food, Hwaloong Maralongsha (화룽마라롱샤) is definitely worth a visit. Longsha may not have the best price/portion ratio but definitely worth trying.
