[Isu] Namsungjip (남성집)

Namsungjip's (남성집) specialty is Soon Dae Gook (순댓국)
For those who aren't familiar, Soon Dae is type of blood sausage, and Soon Dae Gook is a pork broth soup made with various bits and pieces of pork along with these blood sausages.
Soon Dae Gook probably is one of the most popular hangover cures here in Korea.

Namsungjip is located near isu station number 14 exit.

If you like sour kimchee, you probably won't like Namsungjip's kimchee as it's on the fresh side.

 Soon Dae Gook.
You'll notice that they use whole perilla seeds instead of ground up powder.
Using whole seed make the soup taste cleaner.

It has various bits and pieces of pork.
But as you go through the soup, you'll notice that the soup actually doesn't contain any Soondae.
And as you eat more and more, you may think, 'What shenanigan is this? Are they ripping me off because I'm a foreigner?'

But rest assured, you are not getting ripped off.

In the old days, soondae actually meant pig's intestines. So if you order soon dae gook and get a sook with only pork viscera, don't worry.

For those who aren't up to the challenge yet, you can order it as "sal man" (meat only).
Then you just get a pork stew.

The intestines have been cleaned really well.
They taste clean and they don't have any funky smell.

The pork meat in meat only soon dae gook was also very good.
It was really nice and tender.

Overall, the soon dae gook at the Namsungjip is really good.
The soup is quite light considering it's all pork broth, the intestines are really clean tasting, and the whole perilla seeds adds nice nuttiness to the soup.
I definitely will be visiting Namsungjip again in the near future.
