[Mangwon) Halmunie Bindaettuk (할머니 빈대떡)
Halmunie Bindaettuk (할머니 빈대떡) or Grandmother's pancakes in English, is a restaurant/bar located in Mangwon traditional market, near Mangwon station.
They're quite famous and had gotten quite a bit of media coverage in the past.
Halmunie bindaettuk offers wide variety of dishes from 10 different types of bindaettuk or jeon (pancakes) to pork soup to spicy chicken feet.
Sometimes if you go early enough, you can see the ladies prepping whatever ingredients they will be using that day.
Watery kimchee with pickled onions for the jeon.
Blanched squid with vegetables (10,000KRW).
A spicy dish that goes perfectly with soju.
Sesame seed aroma was nice and appetizing, but the squid seemed like it was blanched while ago.
Seafood + meat bindaettuk (10,000KRW)
This was excellent. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.
It contains pork, squid, shrimp, dried octopus, clams and bits and pieces of veggies.
Oddly, the squids in this dish were in better shape than the ones in the above squid dish.
Sool Gook (8,000KRW)
It literally translates to alcohol soup but it doesn't contain any alcohol.
It's basically a soondaegook with larger portion.
It contains soondae and various pieces of pork intestines...
Such as this piece of lung. It has spongy texture so it may take some time getting used to it.
Blanched squid dish was just ok but Halmunie bindaettuk is worth visiting just for their bindaettuk or jeons.
