[Sadang] Chung Song San Ojinguh (청송산오징어)

If you are a fan of fresh sea food, Chung Song San Ojinguh (청송산오징어) is definitely worth paying a visit.

Chung song is located in Sadang, and is about 10 minute walk from Sadang station exit number 5.

They specialize in fresh cephalopods, but mainly squid.

Chung Song is a popular destination among drinkers, so there may be a long line as they don't have that many tables, and their interior is pretty crowded.
When I visited, I had to wait for about 30 minutes.

Squid sashimi and steamed squid are the two most popular dish here at Chung Song.
If you have hard time deciding what to get, they do have half and half (반반) menu (unfortunately, if your party has more than 3 people, you can't order half and half menu).
You might have noticed that the menu doesn't really list a price.
That's because all squid menu here at Chung song depends on the market price of the day.
I think it was about 30,000KRW for serving this day.

Seaweed soup.
Tasted like they only used water, salt, and seaweed.

 Nothing special here.
Just some sliced garlic and pepper.

First half of the half and half menu that we ordered.
Fresh squid Sashimi.

 The squid is extremely fresh.
The flesh is really soft and sweet.
Squids don't live too long after getting caught so it is really difficult to find squid of this quality here in Seoul.

If you mix it with the accompanying veggies and chili sauce, it's a soju magnet.

Second half of the half and half menu.
Steamed squid.

 Steamed whole with its intestines.
The intestines starts to rot within hours once the squid dies, so if the squid is steamed with its intestines intact, it means that these squids are extremely fresh.

I don't think any other restaurant in Seoul can match the quality of steamed squids here at Chung song.

It may look unappetizing but it really does melt in your mouth and again, is a soju magnet.
Closest thing I can compare it to probably are lobster tomalley?

Shouldn't waste all that inky goodness left on the plate.

Think squid ink pasta except there is no pasta.

Ordered "rice ball" (주먹밥) but it looks like it's DIY.

Sesame seed oil, salted seaweed flakes, and sesame seeds.

 Seafood ramyun.

 It's just clams.

Not complaining as it's still good.

I think total came out to be something like 49,000KRW this day.
Half and half menu, 3 bottles of soju, rice balls, and ramyun.
It's not cheap, but I don't think you will be able to find any places that will match Chung song's quality.
Long waiting and uncomfortable seats, but all is forgiven by the taste.
