[Sadang] Mapo Bonga (마포본가)
Mapo Bonga (마포본가) is a barbecue restaurant located in Sadang.
Their specialty is pork galbi, but their beef galbisal, is great as well.
It's located behind the Pastel City building near Sadang station.
Once you order, they'll bring out the grill...
as well as the side dishes.
From L to R, pickled cabbages, scallions, and spicy bean sprouts.
Pickled sesame leaves.
Beef galbisal 2 servings.
Nicely marbled, thick cut strips of beef ribs.
Fire could be bit uneven in the beginning.
About minute on each side, and then cut it up nicely into bite sizes.
Nice, crispy on the outside and juicy inside.
2 servings of pork galbi. Pork ribs marinated in sweet Korean barbecue sauce.
In most places, and I do say most, pork galbi isn't actually pork rib.
Due to high demand for samgyupsal here in Korea, when they butcher the pork, they barely leave any meat on the rib.
So most places either use loin or sirloin.
Since the meat is marinated, you have to cook it like you're rolling the meat over fire.
Otherwise, the sauce will start to burn.
All done and ready to eat.
Tender and juicy. The meat has been marinated really well.
Ordered Naengmyun (냉면), which is a Korean cold noodle, just to see how it was.
Interestingly, it had quail eggs in it.
Honestly, naengmyun here isn't that good.
Not recommended, just stick to meat dishes.
